Getting help NOW.
Where to go for help when you need to talk today.
As a Trainee Counsellor, something I am really passionate about is helping people. Last week I took part in some training with Liverpool Social Care Partnership and the Cheshire and Merseyside Resilience Hub. The CMRH, created in the wake of the pandemic, is offering mental health support and psychoeducation to employees/employers within the NHS, emergency services, and social care industry. I shared the information with our community and one of the managers came back to me and said one of their staff had mentioned there was a 7-week wait to speak to someone through our Employee Assistance Programme. The person expressed that they needed to speak to somebody now.
So I put together a list of charities and resources that provide talking or text services where you can speak to somebody right now, or at least today.
Waiting times to speak to a counsellor on the NHS remain high, but the demand seems to increase each year. I read a statistic this morning that in March 2022 over 90,000 young people had accessed Mental Health services in the UK, the highest number on record since records began.
The World Health Organisation published an article "COVID-19 pandemic triggers 25% increase in prevalence of anxiety and depression worldwide".
So here is the list I created and sent out, some of these links are to social media profiles but I have tried to include phone, website or text numbers for some.
