"Even if you are not ready for the day it cannot always be night."

I was feeling a bit uninspired today so I didn't think I'd post. I was walking to work listening to the new Kanye West Donda album and I heard the beginning of a song which was a poem.

In the song Praise God there's a poem by Gwendolyn Brooks.

Gwendolyn was an American poet who's work dealt with the struggles of the ordinary and people in her community. She was the first African American person to receive the Pulitzer prize in 1950 for her poetry.

The lyric that stood out to me was

Even if you are not ready for day

it cannot always be night

Of course this may resonate with people for different reasons but to me it was a reminder.

If you don't do the work now, things will catch up with you in the future.

We can't run away from our problems, things always come back to haunt us, that's why it's so important to do the work to make sure that we heal, so those old wounds don't come in the future or affect our life now.
